Episode 59: What we all need is a little bit of energy with Keziah Robinson
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
Thursday Jul 16, 2020
You shouldn’t have to do everything and now you don’t. Running a business is an exhausting task. There is so much you have to do when you’re the Chief Cook and Bottle Washer. There are bound to be things that fall through the cracks. When you’ve got a chronic challenge, it makes it all that much more difficult. So what do you do?
First, you need to understand that you don’t always have the same levels of energy and making sure your body is at it’s best is important. How do you do that? A tip for starting on this journey is to actually see what you do with your energy and see how you feel doing it. Then you can sort of match what takes the most energy. For me, I know I'm, I could get up and go from five o'clock in the morning, until about one o'clock in the afternoon. And then I'm toast, and there's nothing I can do that's gonna be worthy of letting anybody else see, you know, from like, one to four, and I'll take a nap or I'll sit back and watch some television and I'll do some, then about four o'clock, I've got some more energy and I can work again for another couple of hours. But if I try to push through from that one to four, and there are times like today I have to do that. My brain gets foggy. I go, I'm not remembering this. I'm not using the right words. And so I've learned to try if there's something that's very important to do it early in the morning.
We will spend the next half hour or so talking with Keziah Robinson about all things energy and how to maintain ours while keeping up with our business success. Take a listen!

Episode 60: Ways to Change Eating Habits Even When We Resist with Suz Carpenter
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
Thursday Jul 02, 2020
Three things in life – your health, your mission, and the people you love. That’s it. Naval Ravikant
If you’re like me (even though my health is not very good), you become resistant at the mention of healthy eating. Bean sprouts and radishes – yuck. Give me a good ole hamburger any day. Right? Yet, the more I learn about healthy lifestyles and chronic illness, the more I hear about eating the right way. Like a carrot dangling in front of the horse to get him to move, health and feeling good is my carrot.
Of course, when we don’t feel good, our business suffers as well. That’s #2 of the quote above. Our mission is wanting to have the best business and doing the most to help others that we can. Without being healthy ourselves, that makes it harder to complete #2.
Finally, I want to be around for the people I love. I want to be able to do things with and for them – not just having them wait on me endlessly because I can’t do anything for myself. That’s #3.
In today’s conversation with Suz Carpenter, I had (and hope you will too) an AHA moment. You don’t have to stop eating everything you love, just start one step at a time by adding in one good thing and maybe not eating as much of one bad thing. She was a down-to-earth proponent of living a healthy lifestyle and also shared with us how these changes can help our business. As well, we talked about some of the things she herself (also a chronic illness warrior) has done to help her business, when perhaps all she really wanted to do was Take.A.Nap. This is a great show today.

Even on a good day, life can be overwhelming – especially if you have some form of chronic illness. And when you are the chief, cook and bottle washer for your small business, balancing all those hats can send you right to the corner screaming. Going through your mind is probably something like “I have to do this and this and this. How am I going to do it all?” Guess what, nothing gets done.
That’s when having processes and strategies in place to help you through that panicky feeling of bouncing off the walls. Join us today as Sandee Rodriquez and Nancy talk about how you can go from barely breathing to getting the most out of your day.

Sometimes monsters are invisible, andsometimes demons attack you from the inside.Just because you cannot see the claws and the teethdoes not mean they aren’t ripping through me.Pain does not need to be seen to be felt.
For someone with one of the “hidden” chronic illnesses, you certainly have heard at least a few times in your life “You don’t look like there’s anything wrong with you.” Or, “All you have to do is take this magic elixir and you be 100% well and feel like you did when you were in your 20s.” Am I right? So often those of us who have some sort of medical challenge run into people in the health and wellness field that sell programs, powders, solutions that are “guaranteed” to make you well again. They quote statistics and recommendations by well known sports stars or doctors in a field (usually ones that have some vested interest in what is being sold). They very well may believe totally in what they are selling, but when dealing with people who have medical issues, those tools and strategies may not work in the way they are supposed to.
According to today’s guest, Lyn Lindbergh, the owner of the health organization and book from Couch to Active, there is still hope for those who have the daily battle of pain.
You're not alone but it feels alone and how do you do all that? And really, we could only do what we can do today, right? We really only have each moment of each day. Your biggest work is kind of figuring out like, what kind of mental and emotional energy do you have in this moment to do what you can with the resources you have today? And then leaving the rest of that mental emotional energy if there's any left to what can I do to show compassion to myself? To not fight against my reality, not think of myself as a mistake or think of myself as a failure or think of myself as less than.
Listen in to this fascinating chat on health, wellness, personal and business. Then see if there might be, just might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Episode 55: Toxins and Other Nasty Stuff with Cheryl Meyer
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
Thursday Apr 16, 2020
According to the Cleveland Clinic “Environmental toxins are all around us. From the food we eat and water we drink to the products and energy we consume. Toxins have been found in beauty products, household cleaners, carpets, furniture, mattresses, house dust―and even in foods and products from natural sources. Being surrounded by chemicals on a daily basis can have some harmful effects on your health. However, there are steps you can take to avoid undue toxins as well as make proper choices that can minimize your exposure to these toxins.”
They aren’t the only ones saying this. Our guest today, Cheryl Meyer is an award winning author, international best seller, health coach, speaker, local TV host and guest podcaster. She has spent many years of her life figuring out what toxins are bad, which ones are worse and how to deal with them in our everyday life. From someone who started out being sick with many different issues, to now, knowing how to deal with things so that she rarely finds herself feeling down, Cheryl knows the ins and outs of living a clean life and how to eliminate the bad. "There is a powerful driving force inside every human being that, once unleashed, can make any vision, dream, or desire a reality."
-- Anthony Robbins
Failure, persistence and success. At least one of those three words we like to hear, right? No one wants to have failure in their lives, and persistence denotes hard work. But success – everyone wants to have success in their lives. What we don’t realize though is that without the first two you are very unlikely to truly get to that third on the list. It takes time, it takes little successes, little failures, more successes (in other words, persistence) and eventually you will get to that big SUCCESS.
If you think that with anything you're doing, you're gonna be good enough the first time, whether it's writing books, playing basketball, speaking, podcasting, if you think you're going to be good enough the first time, you should quit that and go try something else. The reality is, you're gonna stink, you're going to get knocked down and because of that, you're going to be so much better and stronger.
Inspiration, motivation, and the knowledge that (according to Ringo Starr)
“Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the bluesAnd you know it don't come easy”
This is information that we all need to consider, think about and implement. Whether it’s in our personal or our business lives, we need to be able to take our time, pay our dues and eventually our worlds will get easier. Listen in to Nancy and Dominick Domasky’s conversation to get some fascinating ideas and suggestions on how to do this.
